About

Scott Barnett earned his B.A. in Computer Science and Math and after graduation went to work at AT&T Bell Labs. During his time at AT&T, Scott received his M.S. in Computer Engineering. After 6+ years at AT&T, the startup bug bit Scott and he went to his first startup as VP Engineering. Scott has worked at over a dozen startups and also some larger companies such as GE, BEA Systems and Okta.

After 10 years in Engineering and Product Management, Scott made the unconventional move to Sales – first as a Systems Engineer and then as a direct Sales Executive. Scott has started two companies from scratch and led or co-led three others. Scott has gained invaluable leadership and management skills as well as humility after several failures and near misses. Most of all, Scott has learned how to balance the most important things in his life to get joy out of his relationships and endeavors.

Over the years, Scott has mentored and coached colleagues and enjoys working with people to solve important problems. Scott learned long ago that it’s more effective to teach people to fish than to hand them the fish. High performing teams are created when everyone knows how to do their role well as well as interface with all the stakeholders around them. Sounds easy, but history has shown us this is incredibly difficult!

Scott took the Presence Based Coaching (PBC) class in the summer of 2022 and is in the process of getting ICF certified.

Scott is combining his 30+ years of lessons learned with the formal training from PBC to offer a coaching mentality grounded in both practical knowledge and somatic awareness. Scott’s coaching mantra is that every person has the ability to evaluate and address their own issues, and having a guide along the way can enhance the experience. This is where Scott strives to add value and sometimes a little advice!

In 2013, Scott was introduced to triathlon by both his older child and a close friend, and it changed his life. Scott had a fear of swimming, and overcoming that fear and learning how to swim as an adult is one of his most treasured accomplishments. Triathlon is now a regular and active part of Scott’s stress management, joyous lifestyle and is a way to meet amazing new people.

Scott lives on the Jersey Shore with his wife of 30+ years.
